From all the flowers in the garden
In colors both bold and demure.
Velvety blossoms, adorned
With sparkling diamonds
Of early morning dew,
Are scented with sweetness,
Even when tender petals
Become crushed underfoot.
The tree stands strong
Against winds that rage,
Like rampaging lions,
To bend branches to their will.
Green leaved curtains
Shield from the sun
All who seek their shade
Among undulating shadows
On dappled ground.
Boughs filled with snow
Droop and sag,
Only to spring back
When their weighty burdens fall.
The mountain stands faithful,
Unmovable,
Granite upon granite,
Day after day,
Year after year,
Solidly resisting
Forces of nature and man.
May I stand out like the rose
As I stand up for Jesus
With beauty of spirit
And sweet aroma of God’s love,
Even when crushed by life’s problems.
May I stand strong like the tree
As I stand up for Jesus,
Firm for right against wrong,
Ready to help the needy,
Resilient amid difficult times.
May I stand faithful like the mountain
As I stand up for Jesus,
Unmovable from His will
With faith that is rock-hard
Through every day, year after year.
