Melissa and Mindy were traveling down the dark, dirt road at 90 miles per hour, trying to escape their pursuers. The car headlights behind them beamed brightly, indicating they were only yards away. Terror filled the heart of each girl as they wondered how this would all end.
The day had started out as a normal Saturday for the typical sixteen-year-old girls. Mindy had spent the previous night with Melissa, and they had cleaned a neighbor's house in order to have money for their usual Saturday night at the teen club. They spent the afternoon trying on clothes from Melissa's vast closet. They had to look their best for the dance.
Mindy suggested they stop by the mall on the way to the club and buy some beads to wear with their outfits. After finding the right color jewelry to complement their clothes, they took off for a fun filled night of mingling and dancing.
Soon after arriving, they noticed two strangers staring at them from the other side of the room. Both were very handsome young men, and appeared to be older than the usual crowd. As one of them approached Melissa and asked her to dance, the second one smiled at Mindy.
While Melissa danced with one handsome stranger, Mindy carried on small talk with the other. She was somewhat hesitant to continue the conversation when the he became a little too friendly.
“My name is Boyd Parker. My buddy, Tom, and I saw you two at the mall. You are a very beautiful young lady.”
“Thanks.” Mindy suddenly felt uncomfortable with this person named Boyd. Something about him wasn’t quite right. Had these two guys followed them from the mall?
Melissa came off the dance floor with a look of disgust, and whispered to Mindy, “That guy, Tom, is a creep. He tried to put his hands all over me while we were dancing.”
The girls left Tom and Boyd standing there and joined their friends on the other side of the room. They felt the two watching them, but ignored their presence completely.
After a while, Melissa and Mindy decided to leave early, and Melissa asked a male friend to walk them to their car. Boyd and Tom were nowhere to be seen.
“Thank goodness they're gone. Those guys were weird.” Mindy let out a sigh of relief.
As the two girls turned off the main highway onto the unpaved road leading to Melissa's house, they noticed a car behind them. It moved up close to Melissa's car and bumped it several times. A car horn sounded, and a male voice started shouting out obscenities. Mindy recognized the voice to be Boyd’s.
Melissa floored her Mustang, and both cars were moving at a high speed. The girls were terrified when they pulled up to Melissa's isolated house and noticed her mother and father were not at home.
“That’s Tom driving the car. He’s turned into the driveway! What can we do? If we get out of the car, they'll come after us!” Mindy cried.
Melissa swerved the Mustang around and continued down the dark road toward her grandmother's house, which was three miles away. She was crying as she gunned the engine as fast as it would go. Both girls were devastated to find her grandmother's car gone, and Melissa saw that Tom and Boyd were right behind them.
Suddenly, Mindy had an answer. “Go to our church! Pastor Rawlins' parsonage is there. He's always home!”
Melissa took a side road from her grandmother’s house that led them straight to the church, and sure enough, the clergyman was at home. The girls got out, ran up to the house, and cried out for help as they pounded on the door.
“What on earth?” Pastor Rawlins exclaimed.
Tom stopped his car momentarily, then sped away. However, the pastor got a good glimpse of the dented Chevy Camaro.
Pastor Rawlins immediately called the police. After speaking with the authorities, he drove the shaken girls to Mindy's house. Before leaving, he prayed with them and thanked God for answering Mindy’s prayer.
Tom and Boyd were found by the description of their car and identified by the girls. Damage to both cars showed evidence of an assault with a deadly weapon, and the nineteen-year-old men were arrested.
Melissa and Mindy told their story and rededicated their lives to Christ the following Sunday. These days, they spend all their free time working at the church.

I had one small comment - in the second to last paragraph, where it said "damage to both cars showed evidence of assault with a deadly weapon". I got a little bit mixed up on what cars that was referring to. Was one the Camaro and the other Melissa's Mustang? Just curious. :)
Great suspense! Kept me reading! And I liked the title. It made me really curious what the story could be about.
