I grew up with teasing, but loyal brothers. I admired and obeyed my older sisters, played and fought with my younger sister. We worked together on the farm; the air we breathed was fresh and free. We worshipped together with fellow believers; the security of a close fellowship covered me like a warm blanket.
I cried when my older siblings went off to school, but one wonderful day I was old enough to join them. My teachers introduced me to the magic of words. Number caused a bit of stress to my young life, but that difficulty was easily forgotten in the joy of reading and writing.
My childhood was safe and happy. I had few fears and few sorrows.
As a youth I was pursued by a tall, romantic, brawny, neighbor boy. Today I am pursued by that same boy, now a faithful, God following man. He is my lover, my friend, my husband.
Through my childbearing, child raising years I mothered healthy, fat babies. They have grown into handsome, dependable sons and beautiful, creative daughters. I spoil extremely intelligent grand-boys and unbelievably darling grand-girls.
Is my life perfect?
Of course not.
I have struggled. I have been disappointed. I have despaired. I have sinned.
I have been forgiven. I am surrounded by a loving God.
Have I been lucky?
That is not what I call it.
I am blessed; undeservedly so and for these blessings I am eternally grateful.
