Hear my desperate plea!
Take this pen and paper as an offering
I lift them up to You as a sacrifice.
Take control of my mind, Oh Lord!
Guard the thoughts that overflow.
Do not let my heart stray to worldly godless chatter.
Keep me away from corrupt maliciousness.
The praises of fools rise up like sparks of a flame,
disappearing into the darkness not to be embraced.
But, Your promises stand for eternity.
Thanks be to You Lord for the purpose you give my life
Allow the righteous writers to strike me with critique – it will be kindness.
Let them analyze, correct, rebuke and criticize – it’s a blessing.
May I never refuse them their say.
My prayer is ever against the wicked,
those who lead us astray.
May my words be known as well written.
And others will say, “God’s Good News has been revealed.”
My heart and mind are fixed on you, Oh Lord!
You alone are the well spring of ideas, concepts and teachings.
May they pour out of your servant to honor Your Greatness!
I will seek You every day, every hour every minute!
Keep me from the snares -
Laziness, busyness, excuses, sleepiness, unwillingness.
Let me escape into Your Faithful Grace,
as I write with pen and paper.
