When you have climbed
To the very top of the mountain—
One step at a time,
Tripping over vines and stumps,
Then holding onto the rock face
And reaching for a toehold,
You will behold a panorama
Spread out before you
Of the beauties of creation,
The greens and blues
Blending into a glorious tapestry.
You will have no thought
Of the problems you endured
Along the way,
But you will be at peace
As you lie back to absorb
The joy of completion.
Such is the life of the Christian,
Climbing to the very top of the mountain—
One step at a time,
Tripping over problems,
Reaching out for God
To hold you steady
In every difficulty.
As you enter heaven’s gate,
You will have no thought
Of problems you endured
Along the way.
You will be at peace
To absorb the magnificence
Almighty God has created
In tapestries far superior
To those of earth’s canvas.
You will bow joyously in adoration
At the feet of the King of Kings.
