She couldn’t give in, no--not yet--there was a song to be sung
Eyes would dart, heads would turn; friends dared not admit her pain
As if by the ignoring, it would evaporate like rain
Some felt downright guilty enjoying their great health
While others came to realize there’s many forms of wealth
Christmas choirs rehearsed but Lairen’s voice was truly missed
From her bed she wrote intently--words that helped paint heaven’s bliss
This eve of Christmas glistened white as choir members took their chairs
When frail Lairen was ushered in, gasping breaths matched saddened stares
The church glowed with candle lights; her twinkling eyes and voice were lifting
God gave to her requested strength to sing praises of His gifting
Ivory keys played cheerful notes that danced with jubilation
Lyrics burst forth with excitement for her upcoming graduation
Lairen’s song then softly hushed like snowflakes beyond the panes
She sang about the Christ child’s birth and what she soon would gain
Piano notes were accompanied by a trumpet’s stunning tune
Hearts began rejoicing--realizing her victory now, not doom
Though dying she was nourished by friends who feared for her no more
They came and stayed by her side till she entered heaven’s door

You have a gift from God. With words you painted - a picture so profound it gives me goosebumps. Receiving a spot in Editor's Choice is well-deserved.
So much illustrated in so few words.
You did an amazing job picking each and every one for maximum impact. Loved it!
