You inhabit my thoughts and pursue all those double-minded dreams;
you see it all, and are set to purify this heart that is forever in your hands,
taking control of all you perceive that stumbles and falters within those dreams.
I cannot push through my Godless plans when you have hopes and higher aims,
and see the disasters you must avert to rescue this wretched withering soul.
Keep me ever in your eye, else all my dreams will surely die!
Where Shall I Go From Your Presence?
You are aware of my wayward ways and my selfish flesh; I squirm—you see it all!
What blatant souls of men who shut their eyes to be curtained from your view.
Give me a time to settle in your sight and feel at home under heaven's watchful eye;
often my faith fails to reach the switch that opens my sight to your eternal light.
I marvel at your grace to forgive the ugly sight of this weakened soul.
Forgive me Lord for all my wrong, and by your might make me strong!
Where Shall I Go From Your Presence?
All those acts of kindness, transferred to me by you and recorded in My Book,
golden deeds that shine from those pages will stand the test of fire on that Day;
those works that caused the Knowing One to smile, will be eternal and imperishable.
Jewels and precious metals will thrill heaven as they dance from those leafs,
in memory of the Almighty One's influence on a saved life made good.
The Recorder's pages tell that story, of all the deeds that led to Glory!
Where Shall I Go From Your Presence?
From cradle to grave you will be the watchman at the portals of my life.
My goings out and returns are in the keeping of a shepherd who knows the terrain;
from my beginning you knew it all: I was suckled with heaven's dew of sweetness,
my years will all be testimony of a clasped hands' walk with the Companion Carer,
and your eternal presence will see me confidently through the vale of death.
I submit my life to you who knows, who has seen me safe through many woes!
Where Shall I Go From Your Presence?
In heaven's glory my soul will marvel at the unshaded vision at what's on view;
when all will become clear and no shroud is required to cover this forgiven being.
Forever in your presence—transported from earth to heaven's revealing light;
seeing once in part, then knowing in full the darkened pieces of earth's puzzled life.
There, no time span will confuse that union, overseen by your ever watchful sight.
Your all-seeing eye you never close, I'll never fathom why me you chose.
