To try and ease my stress,
But the calories keep multiplying,
Just worsening the mess;
The candy in the pantry
Keeps calling out my name,
But sugar stays beyond today,
And I can’t play that game!
The processed foods I’m craving for
All carry fake IDs;
They’re filled with poisonous chemicals
That are slowly killing me.
The empty claims seduce my senses,
And I reach out again,
But the fluffy junk just leaves me wishing
I had not given in—
As I develop self-control,
I find a better way;
I toss the twinkies in the trash
And drive past Chick-Fil-A;
The temptations do not hold a candle
To good, nutritious food;
The vegetables will make me strong,
Roast beef enhances my mood.
A banquet full of wholesome food
Takes time to be prepared,
But finally my heart is satisfied—
’Tis no longer filled with air.
