A position to be appointed;
And now that you’ve arrived, you talk and walk
As if you’ve been anointed!
You see the world as the open sea,
And believe you’ve been commissioned—
The will to conquer men and women
Is stamped upon your vision.
You bear your strengths like twelve pound cannons,
Conducting your barrage;
Not the slightest hint of your hidden heart
Is seen on your visage.
But do you think this is the post
That you were meant to claim?
To live and die without the fragrance
Of grace to mark your name?
The men who reach beyond the grave
Are not the ones who fight,
But those who put their lives on the line
To do what they know is right.
The one who leaves the scent of grace
Is he who bends his knees
And chooses first to give himself
To help a soul in need.
I look at manhood as if it is
My destiny’s appointment;
’Tis time to come and claim the vision:
’Tis sacrifice that’s my commission—
My blood shall be my ointment.

This message on what it takes to be a real man cannot be stressed enough these days. May God raise up a generation of men just like you describe in the last part of this poem.
Drew it to a conclusion of a person humbly seeking.
