ominous cloud in thundery skies
a sun-kissed jewel in modest guise
came to rest before my eyes and
traced a path in spidery vein to
glisten on my window pane
a shimmering pearl
a solitary drop
of rain
In sombre mood I stood transfixed
in awe of what I saw
‘tho not a common raindrop now
instead
a distant shore
I strolled in silent fancying
‘til in harmonic motion
I spied the raindrop glittering
and frisking in the ocean
I pondered this imagining and
let my thoughts roam free
the raindrop seemed to change in shape and
surely beckoned me
“Come” it called “and join me
as I splash amidst warm seas
release your tired philosophies
come tip-toe on the breeze”
“You know me well” I spoke aloud
“what is your plan for me?
to plummet
flounder
in deep caves
that scowl beneath the sea?”
“Do not abide inside yourself
my way
is outward bound
don’t dwell in shadows of decay
look up and see the bright new day
be free to dream and laugh
I say
to you today
come play”
“But …
I’m seeking here, I’m seeking there
of what I seek I’m unaware
yet if my soul I choose to bare
could you want me?
would you care?
I’m weary of the road I tread
discordant
harsh
I am misled
by one whose lies are far widespread
subtle
silent
interbred”
The raindrop surely grew in size
“come dance with me” it called
I’ll swear I saw an outstretched arm
I stood transfixed
enthralled
and
as I stared into the seas
I felt my soul being filled with ease
the ocean breaker swept me up
inviting me to drink the cup
of joy
I heard His call
I danced His tune
obedience my first goal
praise God for breathing
Spirit
Life
into this seeking soul
A raindrop splashed
the earth below
and bathed me in
its golden glow
A teardrop begs
a heart to know
that faith seeds grow and
blessings flow and
share God’s love
wherever I sow
In palace
prison
hospital
school
to vagrants
thieves
there is no rule
but …
a servile spirit and
listening ear
heart finely tuned to know
that mundane
ordinary stuff
Speak LOVE wherever I go
