’Twas the week after Christmas and all through the house,
The kids were unhappy, beginning to grouse.
The network was lagging, the internet slowed,
And the pages they wanted to view wouldn’t load
Amanda’s new tablet, with doodads and flare,
Was already crawling with tons of mal-ware.
While Jimmy’s cool laptop was making him squirm.
It picked up some spyware, a trojan and worm.
Then mom’s nice computer contracted a virus
She caught from a download of Billy Ray Cyrus.
And I was indignant, my forehead I smacked,
When I saw that my profile on Facebook was hacked.
So I called the help desk as quick as a flash
They answered and asked, “Is this credit or cash?
The man said, “I’ll check if there’s somebody near.
We’ll be out to help you. There’s nothing to fear.”
Then down from the corner we heard a loud skid
From the guru of networks in his fuchsia hybrid.
With a little technician so portly and meek,
I couldn’t help thinking, “Man, this guy’s a geek.”
I heaved a loud sigh from relief that I felt,
But I laughed when he put on a purple tool belt.
He battled the viruses, banished them all
And then he installed a protective firewall
And when he was finished he gathered his gear.
He fixed all our problems, which caused us to cheer.
Then I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
“Happy surfing to all and to all a good night.”
