with a screen full of names she calls friends
She lives what she thinks is a pitiful life
and wishes her sadness would end.
She protests her heartache in status and tweets
and watches as no one replies.
Her cynical comments are all her friends know
while inside Ann constantly cries.
“I don’t understand, it seems nobody cares”
the young woman posts her dismay.
“I’d be better off if I didn’t exist.
So maybe I’ll just go away.”
Then Suzy replies with an answer of hope,
her message explicitly clear
“I just pray to Jesus when I’m feeling down.
He comforts my sorrows and fears.”
“I don’t want to talk to a god I can’t see?”
Ann’s words plainly voice her distain.
“You really believe that God even exists?
My life has been nothing but pain.”
“You go through the effort of going online,”
writes Suzy as sympathy flows.
“You leave yourself open to those who are cruel
and people you don’t really know.”
“You need something simple, some privacy time,”
Suzy continues to say
“You don’t need a password when you talk to God.
Whenever you want you just pray.”
