Sometimes, when angels play in Heaven’s halls
A wing will pierce a hole
In the fabric of eternity,
Spilling dust from paradise
Across the galaxies
Like confetti.
Sometimes, the rays from heaven
Fall this side of paradise
And settle like manna
On desert sand,
A miracle designed
For the nomads of this world.
The weary heart collects the dust of Heaven
With unbelieving eyes,
Craving a taste of milk and honey
From a home she knows
But has never seen.
But eternity cannot be carried
By finite souls,
And the hearts this side of paradise
Will burst under the pressure
Of its very echo,
And the bleeding heart will wonder
If paradise isn’t that wonderful
After all.
But the heart bursts
Like a flower does,
Blooming in all her glory
As she realizes
That she has a father
Who loves her,
And it is His love
That creates paradise
Even on this side
Of paradise.
