Like a tiger,
Ripping chunks of flesh
In frenzied haste;
I hurry through the tedious,
That I might feel the thrill
Of another chase
In pursuit of adrenaline,
Or enjoy a nap
Stretched out in the rays
Of my selfish desires.
I measured time
By heartbeats:
If my heart beat to the rhythm
Of electrifying thrills,
It was time well spent;
Otherwise, I casted it aside,
And waited impatiently
For the chance to pounce upon
The next adventure.
Looking back, I see the ruins
Of hours and days
I ripped in shreds;
I see the careless waste
Of frenzied haste,
And choose a different path:
Now I’ve become a connoisseur,
Delighting in each moment.
I taste each second
Deliberately,
And note
Each flavor,
Each hint
To savor.
I measure time
By heartbeats,
Each feeling
Echoing
Within my heart
Is cherished;
Each moment
Lived in love
Is treasured.
Now time is not consumed
In frenzied haste,
But relished with a smile
At every taste.
