This is the year I’ll lose the weight;
I’ll look my best; I’ll get a date.
This is the year I’ll exercise;
I’ll trim my waist and tone my thighs.
This is my year to do my best
With God’s help, I’ll pass every test.
March
This is my year! Six pounds are gone.
I get up and jog, each day at dawn
I’ve joined the singles group, downtown
My dating life has turned around.
This is my year! It’s really swell;
With God’s help, I am doing well.
May
This isn’t my year; it’s getting tough;
Forgoing snack food is so rough.
And exercising is not for me
And the guys I’ve met can go climb a tree
This isn’t my year; I just can’t do it
I don’t think God can help me through it.
July
This is my year to accept my weight
Being “pleasingly plump” must be my fate.
I’ll clean my house; my yard needs weeding
(And I need to catch up on Bible reading.)
It’ll still be my year; just wait and see;
God will be making some changes in me.
September
This is the year to forget those chores
I’ll pamper myself and go visit the stores.
I think a new hairstyle or brand new perfume
May help me feel to shake off these feelings of doom.
I must turn my life in a different direction;
With God’s help, I’ll do some self-reflection
November
This wasn’t my year. Not one thing went right.
My weight’s up ten pounds; my clothes don’t fight right
I haven’t read Scripture; I don’t have a date
I’d better do something – before it’s too late,
Should I drink green tea? Should I eat some kelp?
Oh, God, please guide me; I need your help
January – (this year)
This is the year that God will lead
He will supply my every need.
I know I’ll need to take some action
But He will be my satisfaction.
This is my year to do His best
I’ll trust in God; He’ll do the rest.
