Grasping the world,
Ready to claim it all--
After all, isn't it actually Yours?
I can’t believe You are truly here,
Welcome to the world,
Emmanuel...God with us.
Small hands,
Playing and examining,
Constantly getting into mischief
Where have the years gone?
Was it just yesterday that You were helpless
And now, You are walking!
My Son and Hope, I am so proud of You.
Awkward hands,
Working in Your father's business
Carefully coaxing a shape from the wood
Do You remember creating that tree?
I wonder, but I dare not ask.
After all, You are still a child...
But, You still are my Creator.
Strong hands,
Roughened by Your craft,
Holding me up while I’m lost in grief
How is it that You are holding me now?
Don't You feel this sorrow?
You collect my tears, and promise that it will be okay
My Comfort and Strong One.
Tender hands,
Touching and blessing
Healing and restoring
You come to life here,
Amongst the people that You came for,
This is the reason why You came...isn't it?
To Redeem us all from the evil one.
Cold hands,
Once full of life,
Even to the point of repealing death
Now, pierced and broken
Stilled by death
Was this part of Your plan,
Oh Man of Sorrows?
Hands of life
Scarred but triumphant
Proclaiming to the world,
Death has been conquered!
Creator, Redeemer, Healer, and Savior...
All of these titles...and I finally realize,
You never truly belonged to me...did You?
