Fighting for Israel’s Redemption
About Me: Greetings! I am Elijah the Tishbite, a prophet chosen by the Lord God of Israel. I hope that my experiences will encourage others to follow Him.
Understanding
Posted 5 Hours Ago
Good news! My brook’s drying up. It’s gotten so low most of the animals have fled. Hidden rocks are now visible, and the water I drink is decidedly muddy.
But don’t worry! I’m ready to move on. Set-backs for me aren’t set-backs for God. I know He’s got a plan for me. I’m grateful He sent His ravens to prove that.
Blessings!

Mom says… I know God will keep you safe.
Caleb says… It hasn’t rained in months! My fields are dry! Call off this curse, prophet, before our harvest fails!
Ahab says… So happy about your brook. My soldiers are waiting.
Jezebel says… I hope you suffer! >:(
Hannah says… Wait a minute! You learned this from a bunch of ravens?
Learning from Ravens

Did you know ravens like to play? I didn’t, but it’s true. One bird saunters up to another, pecks at it, and flies away. Soon they’re chasing each other across the sky, one croaking black cloud of feathers.
Watching from beside the brook, I’m reminded of myself. God often seems like a raven, pecking at me, toying with me, trying to make me mad. But then I wonder whether all God wants is for me to chase after Him. Is He inviting ME to play?
Ouch! Jael just pecked my foot! She wants me to chase her. I’ll write more when I have time.

Mom says… I’m glad God’s drawing you closer to Himself.
Hannah says… Why would a prophet be mad at God?
Trouble with Ravens
Posted on November 12
I’m in hiding. I can’t say where, but it’s a ravine with plenty of water.
And guess how God’s providing my food? I’m being fed by ravens! Their croaking and squabbling wakes me in the morning and follows me to bed. I hate it! I’ve named the ugliest raven Jael. She reminds me of Sisera’s murderer.
Here’s a sample of my morning.
Jael: (Flaps to the ground) Kraaaaa!
Elijah: (Roused from sleep) You again!
Jael: (Drops meat from filthy beak) Kraaaaa!
Elijah: Oh, look! More meat from some carcass!
Jael: (Proudly preens) Prruk prruk prruk. Kraaaaa!
And so the long day passes. I’m feeling really discouraged. Where’s the revival God promised? Why didn’t I stand up to Ahab? Am I really God’s prophet?
Please, pray!

Elijah says… Thanks Mom.
Caleb says… Serves you right for cursing your own people! If the harvest fails, we’ll die!
My Message, God’s Curse
Posted on November 8
What a disaster! I’ve seen Ahab. Here’s what happened.
As I stood before the king, he looked me up and down, then asked, “What do you want?”
“I’ve brought you a message from the Lord,” I replied.
The king scowled. “Well? What is it?”
Lifting my arms, I proclaimed, “Because you have sinned again God, erecting altars to Baal and Asherah, ‘There will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.’”
Needless to say, Ahab wasn’t thrilled. He tried to kill me, but the Lord hid me from his soldiers. Now I’m on the run, feeling like a coward. Fortunately, God’s given me a place to hide. I’ll write again when I’m there.

Chosen by God

The most amazing thing just happened! God spoke to ME! He has a message for me to deliver to King Ahab. He wants me to help Him bring Israel to revival. Isn’t it great? I’m so excited. God wants to use ME!
I wish I could give you the message now, but Ahab should be the first to hear it. I’m leaving for the palace today. Pray for me.

Mom says… God bless you! I’ll be praying. But be careful! Remember, the Lord’s plans aren’t always what we expect.
Elijah says… Thanks Mom. Don’t worry about me. I know what I’m doing is right. With God on my side, what can go wrong? :)

My favorite was the part about chasing God. I hadn't thought about it that way before, because I don't think of God trying to pester me, but I really like how you portrayed that.
I also like the evil Jezebel smiley faces. >;)
Thumbs up on this baby!
P.S. I read it from bottom to top. ;)
Personally, I prefer it from top to bottom. ;)
