(‘When she heard about Jesus, she came ....’ Mark 5:27)
As soon as I heard – I knew:
His Name was music to my ears,
His voice stemmed pain and dried my tears,
His words of power quelled my fears,
And I just knew.
As soon as I saw – I knew:
His hands of love that touched to bless,
His eyes that quietened all distress,
His overwhelming tenderness,
I believed and knew.
As soon as I moved – I knew:
If only I could reach His side,
And touch His flowing garment wide,
I need do nothing else beside
Reach out and touch.
As soon as I touched – I knew
Those twelve long years of suffering
Were passed; His healing surged within,
What hope and joy that touch did bring,
Such joy.
I thought that in deep secrecy
I’d slip away in privacy,
Rejoicing, healed, but solitary –
Oops! I was wrong,
This could not be...
As soon as He spoke – I knew:
For Him I could courageous be
I moved towards His ‘Who touched me?’
And worshipped Him on bended knee,
And will do
For eternity,
I know.
As soon as I heard – I knew:
And like the one who quietly came
For healing from her sin and shame,
I too have trust His Saving Name,
This much I know
As soon as I trust – I know
My daily sins and foolishness,
The ‘Oops-mistakes’ that cause distress,
Are covered by forgiving grace,
I know.
