Met a cute little soft-as-silk chica.
When he asked this young miss
If she’d give him a kiss,
She replied “Not from this senorita.
“While you’ve found a soft place in my heart,
I’ve a feeling it isn’t too smart
To venture a chance
On any romance
When it’s hard to know when you’ll depart.
“I grew up in the school of hard knocks
When a sweet talker knocked off my socks.
I was soft in the head;
Now I’m cautious instead,
Like a sheep who’s afraid of a fox.
“I hope you won’t harbor hard feelings
For the hard truth in all these revealings.
No more a soft touch
For soft soap and such,
I’m quite careful in all of my dealings.
“True, a soft-hearted man’s hard to find,
But I’m sure there is somewhere his kind,
Who will never regret
I am so hard to get,
But he’ll keep me in his heart enshrined.”
When, at last, the young lady stopped speaking
And came to the end of critiquing,
Soft answer began
From hard-working man,
Who had found just the girl he’d been seeking.
“I’m entranced by your soft angel voice
And hard pressed not to make you my choice.
My promise is true;
I will never leave you.
Let us marry, then kiss, and rejoice.”

Thank you for sharing your wonderful poetic gift.
ALWAYS a joy and a blessing to read your work. :)
I also like how such profound truths can be revealed in so seemingly simple rhymes. Now I will have limericks running in my head all day - which can be good thing!
