Across Canadian skies,
With dreams of seeing glaciers
Through their own puffy eyes.
They floated past cloud cities,
Where old clouds slowly crept,
Past young clouds coyly flirting,
While baby clouds still slept.
And looking down upon the earth
Through heavy driving rain,
They saw a long train winding
Through tortuous terrain.
They loitered in the morning
To watch a thrilling race,
When sunshine chased white water
Down craggy canyon’s face.
They noticed flocks of big horned sheep,
Great elk, and shaggy bear,
Some horses round a water hole,
And ground squirrels everywhere
They witnessed sides of mountains,
Where trees refused to cling,
With firs abiding at their peaks,
And snow o’er everything.
Then mammoth glaciers awed them,
And ice fields long extending
Reflected their own fleecy selves
In crystal never ending.
The lakes they saw from melting snow
Were clearest emerald green,
With rocky shores surrounding
A most breathtaking scene.
Of all God’s beauty they had seen,
They liked the glaciers best,
And perched on one gray mountain top,
They paused to take a rest.
