Beside our Christmas tree.
Remember with me what we’ve shared
And what our hope will be.
How beautiful these branches are;
So brightly are they dressed,
Reminding us how through the years
Our marriage has been blessed.
The shiny apples on the limbs
Give reason to recall
That every need our God’s supplied,
Oft’ times before we’d call.
The angel at the very top
Is symbol of the way
God sent his angels to provide
Protection through each day.
The lights illuminate the room,
But they can in nowise
Surpass the glow that we would see
In our dear children’s eyes.
I treasure special ornaments
From friends and family,
And souvenirs from trips we took
You gave as gifts to me.
The golden rope that glitters as
It circles round the tree
Is emblematic of our hope
For all eternity.
Now, Husband mine, you’ve listened well
To all the words I’ve spoken.
To represent my love for you,
I’ll give a kiss for token.
