I had heard stories of this unique man. A private plane, jetting him between three residences and two vacation homes. A working ranch. Yacht. Expensive cars. Trips to exotic locales. He had it all. And here we were, sharing a piece of wedding cake and idle conversation with this incredibly wealthy individual. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Yet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was very wrong.
As we continued chatting, I was drawn to his charming mystique. He exuded an air of importance, and his self-assurance was alluring. I found myself captivated by his warm smile that spread to his sparkling eyes. He appeared to take a genuine interest in what we were saying, and he displayed great affection for those closest to him. From outward appearances, Albert Lewis was a complete gentleman, in every way.
Why, then, was I visibly shaking? Why did everything inside me scream, “Flee!”?
My husband marvels at my gift of discernment, and at this moment I knew that there was more to Albert Lewis than his immense wealth and engaging personality. I realized that his sparkling eyes might better be described as haunting. And his smile, at times, appeared more beguiling than warm. His face seemed vaguely familiar to me … but why?
I was fascinated to hear about his lifestyle, but noticed that he revealed nothing about what he did for a living. I remembered hearing something about him being a doctor, but I assumed, by his age, that he was probably retired. He must have been a world renowned brain surgeon or heart doctor, I surmised, to make that kind of money.
Later, alone with my husband, I broached the subject of Dr? Albert Lewis.
“Honey, did something seem not quite right about Mr. Lewis?”
“What do you mean? I thought he was a nice guy. Are you making up weird stories again?” Although my husband believes I have the gift of discernment, he sometimes thinks I look for something to be wrong when the situation is completely innocent.
“I can’t put my finger on it, but I know, without a doubt, that there is more to this man. Something sinister, or evil. I have to find out what it is.”
The following day, alone at the computer, I googled “Albert Lewis,” and then decided to add “Dr.” to narrow my search. Over 100 hits. I spent the next three hours reading every site about the mysterious rich man from the wedding. The question had been answered … I had, indeed, seen him before. On a video tape we use for training counselors at the pregnancy counseling center. Dr. Albert Lewis … live on camera, performing an abortion.
“Any luck deciphering the big mystery about filthy rich Albert Lewis?” my husband asked as he came to read over my shoulder.
I looked away from the horrific reality on the computer screen, and slowly held my right hand out in front of my face.
“I shook the hand of an abortionist.”
As a solitary tear slowly made its way down my cheek, my small, quivering hands were enveloped in my husband’s strong, sure grip. “No. An abortionist shook the hand of Christ.”

I can't say that the doctor's specialty was a surprise, as that is a subject to which my antennae are rather atuned.
