He made tall trees and short trees;
fat trees and skinny trees.
He made shade trees and fruit trees; trees that keep their leaves throughout the year, and trees that don't.
One tree that God made stood beside a lonely, dusty road.
One day, many people began to gather around the tree. More and more people came, all watching down the dusty road. Soon they all began to call, "Here he comes! Look! There he is! I see Jesus!"
One man, a short little man named Zacchaeus, could not see Jesus because of all the tall people in front of him. He tried to push through the people but they wouldn't move. He tried jumping up and down, but he couldn't get high enough. He told people to let him through, but they didn't listen.
Sometimes, when you're little, people don't see you. Sometimes, when you're little, people don't hear you.
That's when Zacchaeus had an idea.
Zacchaeus climbed up into the tree and found a place to sit in the tall branches. From there he could see Jesus!
Jesus stopped right underneath the tree. He looked up into the green leaves until he found Zacchaeus. "Zacchaeus," he said, "come down so I can go to your house and visit with you."
Zacchaeus hurried down, happy that Jesus saw him.
It's nice to know you're never too small for Jesus to talk to.
Even if you don't have a tree.
