When he was just a little lad
And sometimes acted very bad,
His mom would ask him to be good
Whereon hed promise that he would.
Hed say with his disarming grin,
Hed never act like that again,
But he did.

And then when he became a teen,
With other boys, he did things mean.
His dad would ask him to be good
Whereon hed promise that he would.
Hed say with his disarming grin,
Hed never act like that again,
But he did.

As grown-up with a family,
Hed often treat them angrily.
His wife would ask him to be good
Whereon hed promise that he would.
Hed say with his disarming grin,
Hed never act like that again,
But he did.

Until one day he gave his heart
To One whod sought him from the start.
He prayed for Gods help to be good,
Assured by His Word that He would.
He vowed to serve God faithfully
Till life with Him eternally,
And he did.

I like it! Brief and to the point. The repeating phrases bring out a good message. Good job.

Luke 18:27: ...The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Summed up wonderfully in this catchy little poem! Enjoyed!

I love your creativity with this topic. Your poem tops the "clever" chart with this little guy that couldn't quite follow through on being good. His life progression and that same characteristic was so typical, and THEN that day he "gave his heart to the One seeking him..." was so satisfying to this reader (not to mention an excellent poetic technique you used). I love this!

This is so sweet, right on topic, fun, and well-crafted. Great job.
