You asked me what I know about exams, and the answer is I know plenty. As a girl in school, I had all kinds of tests, and then in college, it seemed there was always an exam to study for. I readily admit that it was not my favorite activity. Some I aced, some I did okay, and some I struggled to pass. The ones I prepared for carefully were the ones for which I made the best grades.

When I was a sophomore in college, I told my dad about a really hard chemistry exam I had just taken. My college was surrounded by hills, and during the exam I remembered a Scripture verse about looking to the hills from whence my help came. Though I had looked all around, I did not receive any help. My dad smiled and said, “Honey, you’ve got to put some study into those hills for something to come back to you.”

There’s an exam, a really big one, that everybody has to take someday, and the results from the grading will last forever. Word is that we can’t prepare for this exam. In fact, any efforts that we make to try to pass are of no value. The fact is that somebody has already taken it for us at great personal sacrifice. His Father asked him to do that for us, and it was a personal gift of love from both of them. The one who took the exam is also going to grade it. And all we have to do to pass it is to believe that somebody already took it for us, to accept it, and to love him back. Can you believe that?
