masking the brightness of a day
with shades of dullest black and grey
and copious rain.
Then sunshine arrow’s piercing glow
slices the cloud in splitting show
with arc of colour in a bow
of hope again.
Array of brilliance in the sky,
promise of God revealed on high,
reminder of His Presence nigh
and covenant love.
Rich transformation from the stark
grey shades of gloom and chill of dark
is fast dispelled by shining arc
in skies above.
Each colour sings out joyfully
a song of hope’s expectancy
that storms will pass, with it we see
His light return.
Lessons explode from bending bow –
red, blue, green, violet, indigo,
orange and yellow – be still, know,
His lessons learn……
Red...
Consuming flame of furnace fire
that burns the dross. Lift low thoughts higher
and by Your Blood cleanse wrong desire,
burning red.
Blue...
Deep rolling oceans of the sea
vast heavens above, stretching o’er me,
eternal love, so great, so free,
I bow my head.
Green...
A bursting shoot of plant and flower,
or full-leaved tree in garden bower
that bears full fruit, in copious shower,
so may I be.
Violet...
Sweet violets in a spring-time glade
give pleasure in their shy parade
and flourish where they are displayed
With modesty.
Indigo...
Dark royal shade of purple-blue
regal, majestic, stately hue,
speak of the robe once thrown round You,
great King of Kings.
Orange...
When coral, amber sunset dies
to darkness, then does morning rise
and dazzling new day fills the skies
and blessing brings.
Yellow...
Far greater than the shining rays
of sunshine’s best and golden days,
there’s a Gold City, where all praise
goes to The Lamb.
Expectantly, we wait the place
where we shall see Him face to face,
our Saviour God, the King of Grace,
The Great ‘I Am.’
Till then, when storm clouds heavy lay
and mask the brightness of the day,
hiding the rainbow’s bright array
I wait - expect …..
Expect and know that He doth reign,
expect His Presence, through the pain,
expect the day He’ll come again,
expect,
reflect.
