It’s the opposite
of ‘resolve’.
Act like It’s not there.
Call it forgiveness.
Don’t be fooled.
This is not like
God’s forgiveness.
That would mean
never pulling it out
again.
But I’ve seen
this ‘move on’ before.
This is a game
played since
the great fall.
It gets pulled out
every time its ploys
are desired.
It can influence,
and force opinions.
It’s sensational -
not good, just big.
It can be changed,
manipulated to suit
any purpose.
‘Move on’.
But without real
forgiveness
it’s like continuing to
hum a tune
whose words are hurtful.
And humming it often
and long.
The one humming
insists he’s
doing no wrong. He
moved on long ago.
Why can’t I?
he challenges.
‘Move on’.
It means
'put it away’
forever.
but,
without real forgiveness
it won’t be put
far away.
The game will be
played; the tune will be
remembered.
It will be hummed and
everything, everyone else
will be a pawn -
especially
one who doesn’t
want to hurt or
to be hurt.
But
you say we should
‘move on’.
