While I would like to catch my breath,
No matter how I try,
It stays before me constantly
And will until I die.
I tried to rest on my laurels
But jumped up very quickly.
Although theyíre nice to look upon,
Their painful spikes are prickly.
Iíve wanted to grab some shut eye
But never been successful.
Eyes closed, I canít see what to grab,
And that is slightly stressful.
I planned to sleep around the clock,
But it was way too small.
My torso couldnít stretch that much.
I didnít rest at all.
I lost some sleep awhile ago,
And now I cannot find it.
If I could tell where it might be,
I donít think I would mind it.
My boss told me to take a break,
But he did not say where.
I asked him, ďIn my leg or arm?Ē
He said he didnít care.
Because I nodded during lunch,
My shirt of white and navy
Has spots of soup and chocolate,
But all the rest is gravy.
I promised I would rest my case,
But when it came down to it,
I couldnít find an empty desk,
And so I couldnít do it.
As for the rest of the story,
The future I canít see.
Though I donít know what lies ahead,
The rest is history.
