as pieces of the game,
with living spirits flesh-encased,
not one of us the same.
A king, a queen or a simple pawn
on our allotted square,
our place decreed before time's dawn,
our start in life, our share.
But do the Player's hands control
and move us all round?
Does our chart of life unroll?
And is our game-plan bound?
Can we choose our squares of life
and move by human will,
seeking our own paradise,
in bid to have our fill?
The Game is set by Master hands.
The Player cedes His say,
so every single piece commands
his choices and his way.
In the game of life, estranged
from Maker and His will,
we're striving for a well-arranged
adventure, to fulfil.
But when the Spirit stirs our game,
to change our mode of play,
nothing will be quite the same.
He blows our plans away.
As pieces animated give
allegiance to the One
who gave to them the power to live
their true game has begun.
He gives us light and leads the way,
gives purpose to our game.
He makes each day a Kingdom day,
aligns us to his aim.
As players on the board of Earth
the game is ours to play,
to strive for every thing we're worth,
or give our Maker sway.
