Why am I here?
Am I a just drip of primordial ooze?
A hot breath of insignificance?
In the beginning God…
I look at my son and I ponder
Does my love matter?
Will my footprints, his, make a difference?
A heart full of love for nothing?
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands…
Sometimes I buckle under
Will sorrow never end?
Surely not put here for this,
For ripped out heart and mind?
The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears…
I’ve searched hither and yonder
Where is my seer?
Where is the prophet to show me the way?
Is there a life worth living?
I am the way, truth and the life…
I’ll continue in my squander
Is there no future?
Who will cause me reckoning?
Who or what made me?
For God so loved the world…
The universe has an answer,
I can pull it from the air.
It’s my own choosing?
Why am I here?
…blown here and there by every wind of teaching…
The church people on the corner
Faithful to a fault.
Will they come and tell me?
Perhaps it doesn’t matter?
I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me. (Acts 26:17-18)
