Topic: Missionary (10/19/06)
Oh, can’t you hear them calling? Does the distance dull their cry?
Can your heart ignore the agony of millions as they die?

As you taste the bread of blessings given, drink the wine of wealth,
do you dare to hoard it fast away and keep it for yourself?

I pour into you the tools you need to take My Words afar.
I have given talents, goods and skills to reach dear hungering hearts.

But excuses rise to Heaven with the noxious fumes of death
while you waste Divine resources, turn deaf ears to My requests.

Stop and think what you are doing. Souls are praying that you’ll hear
and respond to needs far greater than you’ve ever had to bear.

Do not weaken any further in the lap of wealth and health.
It is time to make a difference. Think of others more than self.

Do you want to be a blessing or just keep all that I give?
Will you rise to be obedient? Will you dare to really live?

Come away from all that glitters. Find true Treasure. Heaven’s Gold!
There is nothing that can measure the Vast Wealth of One Saved Soul!

Oh can’t you hear them calling? Does the distance dull their cry?
Will you go and bear My Heart of Love to those for whom I died?

Linda, do you know what this poem reminds me of? That old hymn we used to sing at Nyack. "To the regions beyond, I must go, I must go, for the story has never been told....." Remember that one?

I had two sisters, both Nyack grads, who were Alliance missionaries with their husbands; one to the Philippines and one to West Africa. They would have been at Nyack before you. Both sisters had children who returned to the field when they were grown.

Billy Graham once said that the first thing he looks for when he visits a church is what evidence the church shows for supporting foreign missions and thus hastening the return of Jesus.

Thrilling, isn't it?
