This is wonderful! I enjoyed it very much. Congratulations!
Congratulations! A deeply moving vignette, and beautifully crafted. The dialogue was so real I felt right at home at the table. And the mother's POV is gently understated, leaving the reader to garner all the more emotional impact. An absolute treasure of a piece!

There is something special in this story. Self sacrifice for another is very rare. I have done this same thing for my children when food had run low. I have seen them sacrifice for a friend who had no money or food to eat. I was so proud of them. Your story touched my heart.
Now that I've dried my tears I am able to tell you how emotionally moved my soul is after reading your story. I saw my own mother at that table, the only difference was there were only myself and my sister with her. God's abundant love gave her a wonderful husband in the end and a man whom I now call Dad.

Congratulations on your well deserved win Folakemi.

Blessings!
