The days of youth are all gone,
Simple times when work was done.
Momma's smile and Daddy's hands,
Building castles in the sand.
Sitting in the morning sun,
Running round and having fun.
No purpose to living in the past,
For in life, there's no turning back.
When rain clouds are all you find,
Sun is shining in your mind.
A child's first dance on a summer day,
Not the old grey stone of your mother's grave.
As you stand weeping bitter tears,
Your heart can't fly in the golden years.
No purpose dreaming of the past,
For in life, there's no turning back.
Standing in the shadows of greater man,
Who reached down to lend me a helping hand.
He was sad and tired, but filled with hope,
Gave to me the greatest gift I'll ever know.
Spoke of One who came down from above,
To offer us the strength of His Father's love.
His purpose in life to forgive our past,
And He showed, there's no turning back.
There is strength in His nail scared hands,
As He carries me to the promised land.
He washed me clean and set me free,
Hanging there on Judgment's tree.
The purposes of life have changed,
Buried in the past is only pain.
No purpose living in the past,
In His life, there's no turning back.
Dreaming of better days before me now,
Walkin' golden streets in a city in the clouds.
Hand in hand with angels, we dance and sing,
Giving all praises to a worthy King of Kings.
No more tears to shed with eternity to play,
Purposes have changed in a better way.
Now I leave behind the dreams of the past,
With a smile, there's no turning back.

One of my favorites! WOW!
I like the pictures you paint with words, especially the lovely ones here: "Simple times when work was done.
