The dark haired girl giggled, then raced to catch the last bubble, that quickly drifted out of her reach. She was running late, and her uncle pushed her to gather her things. Her black eyes danced in the early morning heat, as she gathered her school books and the lunch she'd never eat. As she reached for her backpack, her uncle stopped her with a touch to her arm. Even as her eyes began to question him, he took the pack and eased it onto her back. "There's something special in there today" he said in Farsi, and tossled her hair with his hand. "But no peeking till you get to school". Her face lit up like an angel as she turned to walk out the door.
She rode the bus to the centre of town, to the terminal at El Daq Sharrif. It was 8 a.m. and the station was bursting with people, mainly children on their way to school. The 5 kilos of Semtex in her pack, was beginning to wear her down. And her clueless excitement at its content, she was barely able to contain.
A great deal of planning had gone into the selection of the 'hotspot'. It was essential that the location rendered the largest gathering of people, possible.
The Semtex was on a timer, a crudely manufactured device. But it worked as planned, and when the backpack went bang, the girl disintegrated. The force of the blast wiped out the entire station, 107 children lost that morning, and 88 adults.
And this is the completely outraging part.....
Back at her home, in her cinderblock 3 room abode, the men in her family embraced, and thanked Allah, for their victory against the Infidels.

Modern suicide bombings were introduced by Hezbullah in 1983 in Lebanon, and it was in Lebanon that this modus operandi was refined throughout the 1980s. During the 1990s, the attacks continued, but declined in frequency. All together, 50 suicide bombings were carried by secular communist and nationalist organizations, including the Lebanese Communist Party, the Socialist-Nasserist Organization, the Syrian Ba'ath Party, the PPS, and the other half by Hezbullah and Amal.

No matter the ultimate objective of those that share a religion that is regularly complicit in unspeakable acts of atrocity, at least one observation is undeniable. Heinous acts of unmitigated violence, against any segment of society, are not a product of any particular creed, but are rather a by-product of religious misinterpretation.
There will always be those in society that truly believe that even the most egregious acts, are somehow indicative of their commitment to their God.
But for us as believers, the Lord we serve is a gentle and forgiving God : Interested only in the things that enhance our relationship with Him. Interested specifically in forgiveness and love. Requited or not.
