I got me a real nice place to visit—a place, where them doors…they always open. I ‘ave an invitation to stay as long as I like ‘til my life beckons me back to my own house.
Seems every time I there, my friend…she just a peach of a thing—she showers warm hugs and encouragement on everyone who walks through that there front door. Makes ya feel like ya never wanna leave.
There’s always a pot of java heatin’ up on that burner and I help myself to a cup every time ‘cause I know I gonna be stayin’ for a while. Ain’t no gettin’ me to leave sometimes, but when I gotta high-tail it outta there, I just know I gonna be missin’ it ‘til next time.
Sometimes when I there, I get to see some interestin’ people. They all diff’rent and they come from all over—a few of them—they always be hangin’ out, like they moved in or somethin’.
There’s one lady…she there a lot—seems like she got one big schedule. I be in a tizzy fit just knowin’ all she got on her plate. She be needin’ a nanny or a housekeeper or somethin’. Where do she find that there time to be doin’ everythin’? I guess she come on over to get herself a well-deserved break sometimes.
Then, there’s this guy…he always horsin’ ‘round. He be a real nice feller. Ya always know when he get there ‘cause he got this fancy racecar—it be so loud when he arrive. Once he inside, he be tellin’ his funny stories right away and everyone there just gather ‘round to hear what flies outta his mouth next.
Another time when I was visitin’, there was a poor little dear who stopped by and shared her woes. After she come in, she just kept starin’ round the place—lookin’ at them there walls. I later heard she was in awe ‘cause she ain’t had no walls in her house for the longest time. When I met her, she be tellin’ me she ain’t had no toilets neither—‘least not one that flushed. Didn’t matter none anyway, she just kept right on smilin’ ‘til them walls got put up. Now she got plenty of flushin’ toilets and funny stories to tell ‘bout the troubles of fixin’ a house.
Now, there’s some people that come on over who don’t really stay long. Maybe they just kinda’ curious ‘bout what’s goin’ on, but don’t hang out for one reason or ‘nother. I just keep wonderin’ if they might be scared away ‘cause of that there rumor ‘bout the herd of animals that was once runnin’ after people down the road near our mettin’ place—think they be cows or somethin’. It don’t bother me none, though.
We don’t always stay in one place when we get together there; sometimes we wander ‘bout from room to room. Ya always find someone familiar, and ya’ll can chat ‘bout the burdens that lay on your heart or share some good news that makes ya smile.
All together, we kind of a strange brood. We all diff’rent one way or ‘nother, but, we all kinda the same ‘cause we all love the Lord. Anyways, we get along good; kinda like stuff ya find in a cup of my grannie’s minestrone soup. We kinda just blend.
So, come on over when ya feel like you in need of a li’l friendship or a rip-roarin’ laugh that’ll break up your last funny bone. The best part is, no drivin’s necessary—ya’ll be surprised how close it is to where you be sittin’ right now.
L’il ‘ol Miss Peachy—she be waitin’ at the entry of our good ‘ol Hospitality Suite wit’ a big ‘ol happy smile to let ya in. If ya feel like talkin’ to a friend in the middle of the night, just go knockin’ on the door…she be home for sure. She kinda got things backward, though, poor dear—she mostly be sleepin’ in the daytime. Anyway, as strange as that is—she all right in my book.
Ya’ll come by for a visit, now—ya hear?
And, if I can help it, there ain’t gonna be no people makin’ jokes on you, and ‘specially no chasin’ cows to scare ya ‘way…so don’t you be worryin’ ‘bout nothin’. You just think ‘bout havin’ some fun wit’ my friends while you enjoy you some good ‘ol fashioned hospitality.
