We were born in the nursery in the summer of 2004, We were gathered and packaged in a large plastic bag. We were put on a big truck and carried to the big Super-center called Wal-Mart. There, we were hung in package after package over a big huge hook. The sign said, 50 tulips for 10 dollars. We were just two of that fifty, my name is John and my only brother is Jerry, twins we are, stuck together by fate.
One night John said, “Jerry I’m so tired of hanging around here, I feel the need to sprout; I wish someone would buy us, I wonder what color we are”. Jerry said, “John if someone should buy us, I hope and pray to God that they do not separate us, because I wouldn’t want to breathe another breath without you”.
Then one day, magic hands reached for us and put us in the cart. After paying for us, we hurried outside and we got in the car and drove home. We heard the children call her Mommy. They said “Mommy can we please help plant the tulips, can we please”? Mommy said, “I don’t know why you can’t, right after supper we will grab a spade and a watering can”.
We were planted together by gentle hands in the fall of 2004 in mommys garden in the state of Indiana somewhere near the border line. At first the ground was warm and cozy, then it got kind of scary because Sausha, the queen of moles came by and ate a bunch of our distant cousins but thank God she did not get me and Jerry. We survived the scare, and then it got really cold and we just snuggled really close and took a winter nap.
We were awakened to the sound of spring rain covering us over and over again. We smiled and learned to love the sound. Next something incredible happened; we started shooting up through the ground. We had never been so happy, higher and higher we grew. We were the tallest purple tulips in mommys garden. Just one stem, two beautiful tulips. We stood there straight and tall and watched spring time develop above our petals. The dogwood trees displayed their show of white and red and we watched the fire on the bush show off with all her beauty. The first butterflies of the season found us and we loved every minute. The bees buzzed our petals and left their trace all over our face. A robin built her nest just inches above our heads and we watched her dig for worms all around our feet. How cool can two tulips be?
The spring time sun brought all those wonderful children outside to play. Jerry and I learned to play hide-n-seek and leap frog and all those beautiful games that children play in spring time. It was so cute when we heard the children say, “Please be careful and don’t step on the tulips”.
One day as Jerry and I were watching a big fancy car pulled in the driveway of mommys house, the sign on the car door said, “Mayor”. We watched as he went up to the door and knocked. He said something to her that Jerry and I will never forget as long as we live. He reached her a blue ribbon and said, “Mrs. Mommy, the town board has voted that you have the most beautiful tulips in town. Mrs. Mommy cried and Jerry and I just bowed our petals and Thanked God for making us beautiful!

Maybe you meant to say that they learned how the children played leap-frog, etc....rather than they learned how to play themselves...?
I like impersonations like this which make simple things connect so that we think about them more.
