"I'm sorry I said you're just like my ex. I didn't mean it. You're NOTHING like him, but I did mean everything else I said," she explained.
Ted rolled his eyes; sighing heavily.
"Babe don't do that, it only tells you're not taking me seriously. All I'm doing is standing up to your verbal abuse. Now I know you aren't doing it on purpose, but it's abuse nonetheless, because it crosses that line into disrespect. I've been gently approaching you on this subject for years now," she began; carefully keeping her voice down. "I understand why you don't know how to have a relationship and the very thought of it scares you to death. I get it. I know I'm not the only one around here whose been abused by a spouse, but you should know by now that I am the polar opposite of the women in your past. You have to listen and care about what I am saying rather than just immediately getting annoyed. When you raise your voice, especially when I did nothing wrong; it's just plain mean. Also married people need to be friends Ted, because if they're not, they eventually become enemies. It's not like with the different countries of the world trying to get along, everyone feels the strain. Intimate relationships are much more intense. How can any couple live happily when they don't get along well?....Resentment is bound to set in and build up over time. It'll show up in various ways, like it just did in your tone of voice. Anyway I hope you can forgive me and I forgive you too. Let's kiss now and make up."
Sandra kissed Ted's lips gently. "Do you get what I'm saying now?" she asked; searching his eyes for sincerity.
"Yes," he replied.
Sandra walked away; satisfied with his response. 'God thank you for teaching me how to finally learn to properly stand up for myself. Please help Ted to take what I've said in the way it was intended and forgive us both for our harsh words to one another Father, in Jesus name amen.'
While his wife prayed; Ted slowly eased back into his easy chair and switched his T.V. channel to his favorite news program, as he hoped all conversation was over for the evening.
"Local politician Frank Hammon was just found guilty of bribing federal agents, embezzling and the list goes on. A huge swarm of protestors picketed near the White House grounds around seven this a.m.
"KICK FRANK OUT! BANISH EVIL FROM OUR AMERICA!" they shouted.
Ted stood up quickly; stunned by what he'd just learned. After the initial shock wore off a bit; the revelation hit him that his wife just behaved exactly like a Christian soldier, because despite the issue or the people involved; disputes are disputes and his wife was fighting for the right side.
Next he realized that he'd been listening to Satan's promptings to lose his patience and the stress of the new business he was starting with a brand new friend was no excuse for how he'd behaved. 'Now I see why Sandra was so upset. I was tuning her out. She HAD to talk to me about this. Anyway when she compared me to Sam; she only said I was acting like him and that's not the same as saying we're alike. She only used his name as a means of communicating. Wow; she really has learned how to practice fighting the right way,' he thought as he crawled under his covers that night. He looked at his wife and smiled, as he settled into bed.
And when Sandra felt her husband's presence; she awoke and recalled the victorious evening she'd just experienced. Joy and peace filled her up inside even more than before and she fell back into a sweet sleep and dreamt she was a Christian soldier clothed in camouflage!
