The snow was purest white and it glistened in the sun, sometimes it was so bright, it was blinding. There were flurries of it and there were blizzards of it. The blizzards came mostly around the holidays, the human holidays that is, especially on Halloween and Valentine’s Day.
This snow was not like the snow in the land of their kin, in the land across the sky. Their kin could build giant forts and sturdy snow men with their snow. Sometimes this made the young Liluns very jealous.
One day Lilly, one of the more inquisitive of the Liluns, tasted it. When she did, she found out that it was very sweet to the taste. She yelled out for all the others to taste it too. After they all discovered how sweet it was, they wanted to know even more about it.
Sometimes the fairy with answers would come down whenever they all looked up in the sky together, so that’s just what they did. It wasn’t long and the fairy floated down from her glittery white cloud, but this time she came down to tell them a sad, sad story.
She told them the snow wasn’t snow at all, but white crystals that humans ate and that all the crystals that fall on the land were the crystals that the humans shouldn’t have eaten. . .the excess. The fairy continued to tell them how the white crystals affected the humans and that the crystals often came in food called junk. She said the humans that habitually overindulged in the crystals often had rotten teeth and became obese too, sometimes morbidly obese and if they got obese they usually got very sick and sometimes die.
The young Liluns gasped in horror at the tale. Lilly looked down at what she had just tasted and asked the fairy how something so sweet could be so bad.
The fairy told them all it wasn’t bad if eaten in moderation, but many of the humans got addicted to things and the white crystals were one of the things. She told them to some, the crystals were like a drug. They craved it. They binged on it.
Lilly yelled out loud that someone should have warned them about this. The whole group agreed. The fairy told them someone did warn them. Not only did doctors and nurses warn them but a guide had been sent down to help them know all about how to live healthy, happy lives and even warned them about the dangers of overeating and overdrinking.
All the young Liluns cried out that the humans should have followed the guide then.
The fairy told them it wasn’t that simple, that some of the humans didn’t even know anything about the guide until they were already sick and besides, they would need the Giver of the guide to help them follow the guide and some of them didn’t even believe in the Giver or the guide for that matter.
When the Liluns asked who the Giver of the guide was, the angel replied. . .their Maker.
