“Running over, running over,” we boys sang boisterously, hands gyrating, tumbling through the air, occasionally crashing knuckles against each other or catching a blowsy shirt button. It’s what you did at Sunday school, right? Of course Sunday school was a long time ago, not quite as far as the beginning of my experience but that was learned later… during the period of Sunday school in fact.

I don’t know how many can share the experiences I have been blessed with as Jesus first introduced himself and then walked with me through the adventure of life. Even before birth he was there: personally involved in my real life experiences; guiding, providing, caring for me – my gracious benefactor and Lord.

Bill stood and shared his story [my story], “…We were praying that morning; well, I was praying and my wife, who says I pray around the world, was reading the Bible when she nudged me and showed me Mark nine where Jesus healed that father’s son.”

“Do you think Jesus will heal our son if we pray for him,” she asked?

“We went to his cot and prayed for him,” Bill continued, “And he woke and started to cry. Fiona asked me, shall I feed him? It put me on the spot and I couldn’t disagree so she fed him. In a short while we knew he was healed. Our son who had been unable to keep his food down never vomited. Praise God he was healed!”

That witness led me to surrender my life to Christ and faith and I began to ardently sing, “I have decided to follow Jesus. Though none go with me, still I will follow. No turning back, no turning back.”

At the age of thirteen an altercation with Laird caused my blood to boil and the broom in my hands split the solid oak door he managed to put between it and his head. I was shocked. Climbing to the tree house in the front garden I prayed, “Lord, if you don’t help me I’m going to turn into a murderer."

From that day forward my life was changed and my anger never drove me to such extremes again.

I began working with the Bureau of Meteorology at the age of eighteen. Walking to work I was overcome by stabbing pains across my chest. I grew accustomed to these from a nervous breakdown I had at the age of eight. I sat on the curb and God spoke, “You believe I heal, don’t you?”

“Yes, Lord,” I replied.

“How about this then, will you trust me?”

“Ok,” I answered, stood and continued my way; never suffering such a pain again, ever.

Oh, the story goes on, involving so many, till it brings me to Judy. Now this is up to date and I’ve left oh, so much out.

Ian and Judy travelled the lonely country road coming across a young woman frantically waving them down. They stopped to discover that she had accidently locked the keys in the car while attending to her infant son and now had no way of getting back in the car. Try as they might two straightened coat hangers were of little use to force the automated window button to respond. A little dog in the car formulated an idea in Judy’s mind [she’s one of those who make you say, “Only Judy would think of that.”].

“Why don’t we pray that the little dog comes over and puts his feet on the button to open the window,” she suggested, and they did.

They called to the puppy in the car and it happened just as they had prayed, bringing happiness to all.

Ah, yes, not every experience is mine but they are the wine of miracles that remind me of our largesse as we finished that old chorus with hands in full, outstretched circular motion, “My cup is full and so’s my saaaaaucerrrrrr!”
