After a week, I received the dreaded call from “the source.” Guess I couldn’t put off this conversation any longer, so listened to the man at the other end of the phone. The accusations were many. Because I knew the director, and was sure of his righteousness, I listened intently, said very little, but promised to attend the meeting.
I entered the meeting with smiles and personal chit chat to lighten the air as I took my seat at the conference table. The meeting came to order as I glanced from face to face to read expressions. How would this meeting go? The director and assistant director’s faces were certainly grim, many of the others were too.
A representative from the state level of the charity organization quickly took over the meeting. After hearing the problems, she firmly noted that every issue aimed at the director and assistant director was unwarranted. What was being discussed was not even a probability – the power to control the particular issues rested in the hands of the state, not the local volunteers. It was a problem caused by petty jealousy and personality differences.
Coming home in confusion, I knew how distraught our local leaders were. But, I am a Christian and not powerless. Like a bull after a red rag, I charged forward. I ran to my bedside, got on my knees, and prayed. Holy Spirit inspiration made it known to me that the two people who were causing the grief were not the enemy. The enemy was using the two to try and take down two Godly and righteous men.
What came to my mind was Exodus 17:8 where the Bible tells of when the Amalekites fought against Israel. Moses told Joshua “Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.” Exo. 17:11-13 ”And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.”
My prayers were important and necessary to fight this spiritual battle – and I needed to contact the director and let him know about my enlightenment. I was to let him know that they weren’t alone. God was on the side of right and He would strengthen them. Just like Aaron and Hur, I would support him in the fight.
We are taught to line up the spiritual and the natural will be changed for the good. The children that will benefit from this charity organization are counting on the resolution so that the programs can move forward and make their lives better. I am determined to stay on my knees in prayer until all is resolved. They are that important – to me, and to our Heavenly Father who has taught us to fight the fight of faith.
