Choir.
One girl, Mouna, with the worst caterwaul you ever heard.
She called me her friend.
So what was I supposed to do?
Fortunately I didn’t have to speak to her (in love, of course): the music teacher, Mrs. Lee, heard her wail over the sweet cadence of the other girls and announced instant auditions for all. She was determined to get rid of the cat.
We went up in threes to sing operetta in three-part harmony. I was doing well, trying to deafen myself to Mouna’s screech in my ear, when Mrs. Lee’s curled hair swung around on the piano stool, tenderly smacking her ruddy-cheeked face. She glared right through her magnifying lenses into my eyes. There was something dark and stormy in hers, magnified by a prescription of at least 4.75, and I gulped so hard that saliva got stuck in my throat and I couldn’t sing for a minute. Shaken but not stirred, however, I got back on track, with the delightful anticipation that, at last, Mouna would no longer be in my ears. I would be singing all future tenor parts free of flat note distractions, (to the great delight of my proud granny: who never failed to tell everyone she met at recitals that I was her granddaughter).
Which is why I was in shock when the list went up in the hall without my name on it.
Yes.
Mouna’s name was there.

So this is the part where I am supposed to give you a piece of wisdom I learnt from this: one of life’s little lessons. Here it is, straight from Scar’s mouth (Scar is Simba’s uncle: a lion, in the movie The Lion King, (1994)):
“LIFE’S NOT FAIR”.

Alternatively, you can check out Matthew 12:20: He will not crush those who are weak, or quench the smallest hope, until he brings full justice with his final victory,(NLT)
When that day of justice comes, and we all stand before the throne as one glorious choir with one voice, God is not going to stop our singing to see who is off key. There is no chance of getting kicked out either: I know these things…. because when each child of God gets a new body, she also gets a new voicebox… and Mouna and I will get to sing together in perfect harmony, before the Lord, forever.

The injustice, and no trite ending excellent, well done...Have you thought of a girl's diary of lessons like this...you'd give Bridget Jones a run for her money!
