Snaking down the hill
Trail forked at top
Winding
To road below
What make it?
Who and why?
50 years and
Still there
Snake Tongue Trail
50 years, memories fade
Others live on
Memories shaping a life
“Mom, please?”
Begging, pleading
“Let us go!”
Three children
Asking a thousand, a zillion times
Me and siblings
“Please, just once?”
For
Over the steep edge
Hike the trail
Around rocks
Sage brush
Junipers
Twisting, turning
Slipping, sliding
To the bottom
“Please?!”
Adventure!
Snake Tongue Trail!
Quiet
Silence growing louder
Beckoning faces
Pleading eyes
Stillness prevails
The world around hushed
Older eyes contemplating
This time?
For Snake Tongue Trail
Heroes?
Bragging rights?
An exploit unrivaled?
Or disappointment?
“Wait here.”
Mom departs
Wondering, is it true?
To the ridge, peering
Waiting
From the bottom
A wave
A hundred miles below!
Careful and careless
Three to a quest
A life time feat awaits
Snake Tongue Trail challenging us
Daring us
Excitement overcoming fear
Laughing, encouraging
‘Three Musketeers’
Steepness ignored
Tumbling rocks mocked
Onward!
We gaze back up
Snake Tongue Trail
Looking so little now
“We did it!”
Yes, we did.
A child’s first triumph!
Snake Tongue Trail conquered!
Strength for the tomorrows

Nicely done. God Bless~
Not sure if the center alignment was intentional - if it was, wasn't sure what the goal was. I personally would have preferred it to be left justified - just think it may have read easier - but that's just me.
A powerful piece of writing. Thanks!
God Bless you~
