THE MANY MOODS OF A HOLY GOD


God looked down through the darkness and void and silence of time and said:
“I’m bored. I think I’ll make Me a world!” And with His Word, began His first great experiment.

Before long He looked around at all He had made and said:
“This is good but, I’m lonely. I’ll make Me a man.” And His second experiment was breathed into existence. And God was glad.

“It’s not good the man be alone. I’ll make for him a helper,” God said. And thus began His third wonderful experiment.

Now, the man and the woman of God’s experiment were happy in the world He had made, and for a time there was blessed communion between the three. And God said: “I am satisfied.”

But sin entered into God‘s creation, and a great gulf of separation between God and His experiment began to grow, for God in His Holiness cannot look upon sin. And God was sad. He sat down on a great mountain to ponder all He had made.

“My first experiment was a smashing success!” He said, and God was delighted.

“But alas,” God said with sorrow, “my second and third experiment’s have not progressed as I hoped. My experiment is in need of a thorough cleansing.” So, God stood and looked around at His creation.

“Aahhh!” God said, “Let us consider My servant Noah. I’m contented in him. Perhaps, this has not been a total failure after all. Noah, and his family, will I spare.”

And God dunked His first experiment under water, sparing only Noah, his family, and two of each of the animals created in His first great experiment. And God was relieved that His world once again was clean.

So Noah’s family, and the animals began life anew in the world God cleansed, and it seemed for a time, God’s experiment was again, on the right track. Sadly, sin quickly consumed the hearts and minds of God’s experiment, and God was heartbroken. Those He had made were far removed from Him. For God cannot have communion if His experiment remain in their sins.

“There must be a way,” God said, “for those I love so dearly to reach me. Is there no one worthy to bridge the ever widening gap?”

“Father, I Am,” came The Voice of God’s beloved Son. “I will be The Bridge - between You and your people.”

And God approved. And sent His Son, to stand in the gap and bridge the great gulf created by the sins of His people. And because He sent His Son - His only Son - to be the Supreme Sacrifice for those He loved so dearly - God was miserable.

And God’s Son - His only Son - took the sins - all the sins, upon Him - of the experiment God had made. And then He died. And God was grievously sad.

But the Son - God’s only Son - took death and flung it into the lake of fire and He took the sins- all of the sins - from all of God’s experiment - throughout the eons of time, and hurled those sins as far as the east is from the west, to be remembered no more for time and all of eternity. And the Son - God’s only Son - arose from the dead! And God was pleased.

Sadly, God’s experiment again separated themselves from the Father - but were forgiven by the Son - and sinned against the Father - but were forgiven by the Son - and sinned again. And soon, those of God’s experiment who believed on the Son cried out to Him!

“Father, please! Forgive our sins and heal our land!” God’s experiment remembered again, their Creator. And God was relieved.

Suddenly, God looked down from His high Heaven and saw His experiment hurting, and bruised, and tormented, and chastised, and crying out for His sake. And God was livid.

“Son, My only Son,” God said with a fury, “arise now, and on my Word, bring my experiment Home, for I miss the fellowship of my creation and My people have suffered greatly for My sake.”

And so The Son - God’s only Son - is standing now, beside the Father, ready to ride and retrieve those from God’s experiment who have washed their robes in the Blood - the very Blood - of the Son - God’s only Son.

And God, the Creator of all, must be excited.

This is an interesting and fresh take on the topic. I always find it fascinating to read what others think God is thinking. It's a wonderful way to show your faith and beliefs while encouraging others to think about their beliefs.

Such a well crafted and creative piece. I like the way you move through bible history from the perspective of God's emotions for us. I loved the line "and God dunked his first experiment." That is SO priceless! Nice work!
