TITLE: Door A or B? | Previous Challenge Entry

"Yes. Why?"
"I just have a feeling. This next test, she’ll fail…want to bet on her soul?"
"She will pass without incident. Of this, I am confident."
The tall man touched his black goatee. He glared with a sinister smile before responding to the muscular man with auburn hair, “I have a feeling during this next experiment she will fail abysmally."
"I believe she will pass this final test."
"There are two doors in this room young lady-A and B. Your job is to determine where you will want to live for all eternity."
The diminutive blonde gazed at the speakers on the ceiling, as if trying to determine who the voice belonged to. She had no idea how she arrived in this pristine, yet depleted room. Seated on a red leather chair, she looked around anxiously. The four walls were mirrored, and the floor boasted white mosaic tile.
"Young Lady, directly in front of you are two doors. One is marked A, and the other is marked B. Do you see that?”
"Yes, I see them both." She answered while trying to ascertain where and why she was in this "place." Sweat began to drip from her forehead, and was already rolling down her back.
"Do you love God?"
"Yes, I do."
“Do you love God with all of your heart, might, body and soul?"
"Yes, I do."
“This final test in our series of experiments will determine where you will spend eternity. However, it will be up to you to contribute to your own fate. You will have to establish which door you will walk through. One will be God’s kingdom; the other will be the antipode of heaven. Your choices are only A or B. You will have only three minutes to make up your mind. Proceed right now!"
She stood, and with trepidation walked toward the doors. She peered with great intensity at door A. The color of the door was bright yellow and had a small light at the top of the frame. Music was playing softly and birds were chirping sweetly. Voices were singing. And then she heard clearly, "Come in and worship-I am your Lord." She stepped away and walked to the other door.
She scrutinized door B. It too was bright yellow with a small light at the top of the frame. And like door A, music was playing softly and birds were chirping sweetly. Voices were singing. And then she heard clearly, "Come in and worship-I am your Lord."
"Young lady, it is time to pick which door you will enter. Will it be door A? Or, will it be door B?"
The man with the black goatee was salivating waiting for her response. He watched her with his yellow orange eyes, leering and transfixed on her face.
The man with the auburn hair was smiling and knew she would make the right choice. He had no doubt whatsoever. She was always in the "word" and she knew God, fully, and intimately. She would choose wisely.
"I am going to pick door B."
The man with the black goatee, screeched, "NO! Why would you do that? How can you be so sure? How do you know? Didn't you hear the same things? The birds? The singing?
"Yes, I did.”
"Then how? Why?" He demanded as he felt the foothold loosen.
"The sounds were the same…birds chirping, and voices singing. But, I know the sound of my Shepherd's voice. Door A was the false prophet trying to fool God’s children. I know my Lord, and His ways. I will follow my Shepherd’s voice and so therefore it is door B."
The false one squealed in agony as he lost yet again, to the Almighty Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Christine’s eyes popped open. Sitting up immediately in bed…her sheets and top saturated with sweat. Christine's heart was racing like a thoroughbred. She reached for the water on her bedside table and thought, “Wow, that dream was so realistic!" She belched and could still taste the fried bologna sour pickles and mayonnaise sandwich she ate at midnight.
She smiled and turned the TV off, but not before taking notice of the upcoming show, “The Lord is my Shepherd-do you know His voice?”

Personally, I wish you had ended it at the starred part. I know God talks to us in dreams as it's one of the few times we let our guard down enough to truly listen. However, it is overused in the literary world.
The message is beautiful. God believes in me even when I doubt myself. He is fighting for me and He loves me. The more I read this week, the more I am aware that life is one huge experiment. You did a really nice job with this.
As a big believer in dreams, I personally like the way it ended. I have had quite a number of dreams where I knew God was speaking to me about something. None of those dreams were as clear as the one presented here (since most dreams are loaded with symbolism), yet having the dream presented in such a succint way seems to work well in this story.
To each their own, I suppose. Nice work on this piece.
[I guess you also show that God's grace can even bring clarity to dreams that might be triggered by a late-night fried bologna sour pickles and mayonnaise sandwich! ;-) ]
Like Nancy, I liked how it ended. I am intrigued by the thought of God speaking to us in our dreams, and -- I loved how we saw the MC when she was awake. She belched, for crying out loud! I did not expect that, and found it quite amusing.
