Anxiety imprisons my soul, intrigued by every disaster update, every word;
Catastrophic storms, earthquakes, famines, fires and floods overwhelm me;
Intense pains in my chest increase with intensity, matching every calamity.
Negative ‘urgent’ ‘breaking’ news stories feed upon each other like sharks;
Graphic photos and videos are accompanied with an “expert’s” inane remarks.
“Enough of this!” Dramatically clicking the remote, I powered off the television.
“There’s got to be a reason for all this! Why are all of these things happenin’?”
“E-mail is too slow, I’m going to text my friend and ask him-he knows the Bible.”
“Return to the Lord by repenting of your sins and your joy will be made full.
“Now is the time, repent! Today is the day to turn to Jesus: Watch and pray.”
I set my cell phone down and lifted my tear-filled eyes toward heaven’s Way,
“Today, I repent, Lord of all of my sins—I don’t want to face eternity alone…
“Yes, I give my life to you, yes…” With that said, I let out a thankful moan.
