With papers scattered all about;
Half-ordered blends with bewilderment,
And things that matter with things that don’t—
I have some poems printed primly,
And some are scribbled on small scraps;
The search for each can be a nightmare,
But worth the trouble in the end!
I navigate the labyrinth
That I may find a prize to claim—
With hope to bless another heart
I search my mind for gems to mine…
If this was a mission for myself
I think I’d settle for a crumb,
But I am searching for a jewel
To bring a little love to some!
What do I seek? The perfect thesis?
A poem to stun the multitudes?
Nay, just a scrap with words of grace,
To bring the sun to a darkened heart—
I sort the papers on my desk
And won’t be done until I have
The perfect treasure that I seek,
And I’ve found the one that God has touched.

This isn't a WRONG thing, just an adjustment that I had to make--the metered quatrains made me expect a rhyming poem, and my brain kept looking for a rhyme.
I'm willing to bet that you've got that perfect poem somewhere in your 'desk'--I hope to read it some day! This is very well done.
