There are no boys or men at this event. Even the Pastor is not here today. The organizers are comprised solely of women as well as the dining hall staff and the ushers. Even our video cameras are even run by ladies on the media staff.
We have gently turned around the fathers, brothers and boyfriends as well as the fellas who tried to sneak in the back. They will return later this evening. For the men who decided to hang around, we provided video games and movies in the family center with a large supply of yummy snacks. The guys can come and go as they please as long as they don’t come in here.
So why did we make this event exclusively for young ladies? We wanted everyone to be comfortable, whether asking questions, participating in the activities, or giving their honest feedback on some of the topics that will be discussed today. We didn’t want anyone to feel nervous because of what a guy might think or say. We encourage all of our young ladies to speak out and speak up.
We heard about the male congregation planning to crash today’s event, so we kept the topics a secret. No one knew what we had planned and I think it actually created even more of an interest in what we were doing.
With overwhelming response we received, we would did not have room for the guys anyway. Thank you so much for sending in your RSVP cards so we could plan today’s event effectively. That was so important for an event of this size. Thus, in response to the growing demand, we are videotaping today’s event and will make it available for only a nominal charge to cover the processing. Please note that this is not a fundraising event. This is a ministry.
After praise and worship, our First Lady will give us an encouraging word so be sure to have your notebook handy. We will then take a thirty-minute break. That will give you ample time to sign up for your breakout sessions and stretch your legs. Refreshments will be provided. The next session will be run by Dr. Michaels, highly esteemed family counselor for a question and answer session on dating.
Lunch will be provided in the dining hall. Ladies, this is not a pizza and soda event. Check out the menu inside today’s program. You are in for a big treat! Don't eat too much because this afternoon we have some phenomenal breakout sessions for you. Remember, you’ll be able to attend five breakout sessions. Here are the topics:
1. Makeup Your Mind, not Just Your Face: Working on God’s Precious Child from the Inside Out.
2. What Would Jesus Say? Squashing the Gossip
3. What’s Love Got to Do with Hitting Me? A Outcry to Stop Domestic Violence
4. Don’t Be Funny With Your Money: A Guide to Save Some of Your Hard-Earned Money Instead of Blowing It.
5. Giving Ten off The Top: An Introduction To Tithing
6. Keep Your Mind Open and Your Legs Closed: A Hope of Celibacy for Today’s
Teens
7. Does This Make Me Look Fat? Nutrition, Exercise, and Self-Esteem for Today’s Teen
8. Do You Really Text While Driving? A Debate
9. Students Staying Sober: A Call to Action
10. Babies Having Babies: An Original Teen Talk
We will have two separate breakout sessions going on at the same time. You’ll only be able to attend a total of five breakout sessions and you'll have until the beginning of lunch to decide on your choices so think strong but don’t think long. We have over two thousand young ladies here and we need to be sure we have enough seating for everyone.
We have a ton of things planned for you today and I truly hope that you will be encouraged to be the best that God has for you. Without further ado, I present our First Lady. Without her, this program would have not been possible.
