My plaque says PhD.
An expert with knowledge
From an Ivy League college,
I’m smart and sure you’d agree.
I can prove life began with a spot,
A dot most exceedingly hot.
I’ve studied the stars
Between Earth and Mars;
A Nobel peace prize paid for my yacht.
From nothing came space, time, and matter;
That space has grown to be fatter.
Like balloons that are blown,
The expanding unknown
Has become the world on a platter.
Now take CMB radiation,
A heat remnant explanation;
For the Big Bang was hot,
And the world’s mostly not;
Facts are proven by close observation.
Who could doubt the world’s evolution?
Strong species create substitution;
The creatures that thrive
Are the strong who survive;
Mutations must be the solution.
To others I may seem aloof
By spending my life seeking proof;
Each fact has a reason
As the sun causes seasons,
And gravity pulls rain off a roof.
Even now I see a formation,
A light that’s blinding the nation.
That trumpet’s so loud!
Is that God in the cloud?
Was I wrong in my estimation?
Ohhh…I wish that I had thought twice
Of my childhood pastor’s advice:
“Believe in God’s word;
Your prayers will be heard;
In the end you won’t pay the price.”
Ohhh…I see the love I ignored
From the One I should have adored;
He gave me sight
And created the light,
And now I must bow to the Lord.
