and honestly, I’m grateful.
But couldn’t you like, change my life?
Right now, it’s really hateful.
My parents are sooo terrible.
They just don’t have a clue.
They don’t remember being kids
but I know that You do.
Yesterday my mom freaked out
about the jeans I bought.
She said, “too low and way too tight.”
I yelled back, “No they’re not!”
They ground me for the dumbest stuff,
like coming home too late.
I’m way too old for curfews, God,
I’ll NEVER get to date!
My best friend Annie got a ‘pod,
but Dad said I can’t buy one.
Just ‘cause I forgot my chores
and didn’t get my room done!
That science teacher, Mr. Welsh
gave me a ‘C’ in school.
I’ll tell you, Lord, it isn’t fair;
my project was so cool.
Our youth pastor called me to say
he loved my written song.
I guess some things are okay, God.
Not everything goes wrong.
Mom and Dad just set me free-
my grounding time is through.
They said, “We love you very much.”
I said, “I love you too.”
Thank you, Father, for Your time,
for school and Mom and Dad.
For Your Son Jesus, and my life.
You’re awesome and waaay rad.
