" Miss Lola Statler made her debut to a Full House last night on Broadway. Her tender portrayal of "Cousin Amy" in Walter Houston's new play, 'Empty Pockets', brought the house down and the audience to their feet by her magnificent performance . Yes indeed! A bright new star is born! Look for the talented Miss Statler to be a fast rising Star on Broadway".
Lola clutched the New York Times to her breast and waltzed around the room thinking about last night's fabulous "after the show" party. It had been full of people. Wall to wall people, both friends and strangers, congratulating her on her splended performance. Her dance card had been full of famous names, her dressing room had been full of flowers, the guys that surrounded her had been full of propositions, and her mind was now full of grandiose ideas of jewels, furs and a flashy red sports car.
But that was all back THEN....and this is NOW....today, five decades later, the stage lights are dark, the audiences are gone and what was once a "Full House" is now eerily silent and empty.
Yes, Father Time marches on, people grow old, things happen, and Miss Lola Statler had her fifteen minutes of fame in the sun, under the spot light, and her name on the marquee - but in time she was replaced by new upcoming starlets in Hollywood, such as Lana, Ava, Grace, Marilyn and some new stars today that she can't even remember their names.
Yes, there's a big difference in "Then and Now", and in a life that was once full and now is empty. Her dreams and aspirations of jewels and a flashy red sports car have all vanished like chaff blowing in the wind.

Lola was my neighbor. She often confided in me about her bitter disappointments in life, of her failed career, failed marriage and bitter divorce, and the pain of getting old, and how full her life was long ago and how empty it was today.
"You know, Lola", I said one day, "You're not alone. There once was a man who lived on earth who had thousands of people following Him around. . There would be wall-to-wall people sitting on the side of a mountain just to hear Him speak. He was the talk of the town!. People would flock to Him just to touch Him or even just to touch the hem of His garment.
"His Life was so full that sometimes He didn't even have time to get any shut-eye, and would fall asleep exhausted on the deck of a boat while traveling to another group of people waiting for Him. His life was so full that sometimes he didn't even have time to eat.
"Lola, you need to read about this wonderful man, and after you've read it, it will change your life forever. This man led a FULL life in just three and a half years on Earth, but then after He was crucified He left an EMPTY tomb behind Him so that He could give you a Full Life forever and ever....up in Heaven."
"Tell me more!" Lola cried, "please, tell me more."
I gave her a New Testament to read, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, she understood the meaning of that Empty Tomb....and today Lola's emptiness is gone and she is full of joy, peace, love and hope.

Author's Footnote:
I still believe it was the mention of the "Empty Tomb" , and NOT the part about His "Full life" - that intrigued her enough to read The Book.
